L3Harris opens Advanced Manufacturing Facility-South

HUNTSVILLE – L3Harris marked the opening of its newest solid rocket motor manufacturing facility in Huntsville last week.

The Advanced Manufacturing Facility-South will produce and ship rocket motor parts, such as, nozzles and cases, critical to national defense programs including the Standard Missile, Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System, and Javelin.

L3Harris invested $20 million in capital improvements in the 379,000 square foot facility previously used by Remington off of Wall Triana Highway.

“This site was meant to grow with the vision. The manufacturing floor is modular, designed to be scalable, efficient, and highly flexible,” said Scott Alexander, President of Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris Missile Solutions.

L3Harris already has its Missile Solutions sector headquarters and AMFNorth, a smaller 100,000 square foot facility, in Huntsville. The new facility is projected to create over 100 more jobs in the coming years.
