James Clemens Theatre selects ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for one-act play
James Clemens Theatre has selected its fall competition play, cast and technical crew, along with choosing their second- semester production.

James Clemens Theatre selects ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for one-act play

MADISON – James Clemens Theatre has wasted no time to prepare for its 2025-2026 season by selecting its one-act play for the fall semester and its full-length spring play.

James Clemens will present “Romeo and Juliet” as their one-act play for regional competition and hopefully progress to Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival in November.

Drama teacher Olivia Skillern is Artistic Director. Bryan Comer will work as Technical Director for the department.

These students are acting in “Romeo and Juliet”: • The Montagues – Owen Davenport (Romeo); Robin Dunkerley (Old Montague); Kate Butler (Lady Montague); Connor Murphree (Mercutio); and Clay Tyrrell (Benvolio).

• The Capulets – Ella Gibbons (Juliet); Apollo Smith (Old Capulet); Juliet Carr (Lady Capulet); Emily St. Peter (Nurse); Tony Comer (Tybalt); and Kayson West (Paris).

• Servants – Lena Racelis (Balthazar); Ian Mc-Dougal (Abraham); Gavin Sharp (Sampson); Natalie Zesinger (Gregory); and Alayna Grey (Page).

• Other actors – Brendan Philpott (Friar Lawrance); Hany Amer (Prince Escalus); Avery Shaw (Apothecary); and Emma Gensler (Friar John).

• Ensemble – Jordan Johnson, Grace Lee and Grace Nuzman.

As Student Technical Directors, Jack Wimberley and Bianca Nastasie are managing work by the Technical Crew. Other tech crew leads are Raleigh Batchelor – Director of Design; Journey Sailsman – Production Stage Manager; Penelope May – Stage Manager; Becky Mahanna – Set Crew Chief; and Sean Cummins – Lead Carpenter.

Additional tech leads include Soph Ruf – Paint Charge; Corah Minnick – Costume Lead; Zamaira Davis-Jordan – Props Crew Chief; Tristen Green – Sound Crew Chief; Darby McKay Lighting Crew Chief; and Aeron Malone – Hair/ Makeup.

The Advanced Tech Crew members are Renad Almohtasib, Emma Lakso, Annslee Hellums and Brady Percy – Set Construction; Matthew Adams and Josh Castille – Props Crew; Brynlea Chambers – Hair/Makeup; Nathaniel Landers, Braelyn Lewis and Gracyn Dardon – Sound Crew; Emma Minsk, Kylie Jones, Charlotte Post and Eva Sterling – Costumes; and Emerson Pearlstein Lighting.

On Sept. 2 at 6 p.m., all James Clemens Theatre parents and students are invited to Desserts and Drama at James Clemens High School. Directors and boosters will announce upcoming field trips, shows, fundraising and other theatre activities.
