Kids to Love to go “Over the Edge” for children in foster care Sept. 19-20
MADISON – Bold, compassionate individuals will be going “Over the Edge” for Kids to Love during a thrilling two-day fundraiser where participants rappel 160 feet from the top of the Regions Center in downtown Huntsville — all to support children in foster care.
The event, which will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20, aims to raise critical funds for Kids to Love’s life-changing programs, including “More Than a Backpack”, KTECH, and the Smith Family Wellness Center.
Lee Marshall, Founder and CEO of Kids to Love, said the event offers a one-of-a-kind way to make a lasting impact. “Going Over the Edge is more than a bucket-list adventure, it’s a bold step to help children in foster care get the support they need to succeed,” Marshall stated. “Every person who signs up and raises funds becomes part of something bigger.”
Participants, known as “Edgers,” commit to raising $1,500 to secure their rappel. The registration fee includes training, gear, and a one-of-a-kind experience with cheering crowds below.
The weekend also includes family-friendly fun for the entire community:
• A Friday Night Block Party (5–8 p.m.) with live music from Big Daddy Kingfish, and food and drinks available from Church Street Wine Shoppe and Baskin-Robbins.
• A Saturday Street Party (11 a.m.–3 p.m.) with food trucks, Rocket City Mom kids’ activities, bath bomb painting, a Virtual Over the Edge experience, and more.
All proceeds support Kids to Love’s mission to meet the immediate needs of children in foster care!
For anyone interested in participating, registration ismay still be open at kidstolove.org/ over-the-edge. Spots are limited and usually fill up fast. If you missed this year’s chance, the event is open to the public and there will be plenty of fun for those cheering on the participants.
Since 2004, the Kids to Love Foundation has impacted more than 316,000 lives through a wide range of programs that include providing clothing and toys, college scholarships, and trauma treatment. Kids to Love also has Davidson Farms, a foster home for girls, and the Whitaker Cottage Community for young women aging out of foster care.
