James Clemens fined and forfeits victory over Gardendale for rule violation

MADISON- The James Clemens football program has been fined and placed on probation by the Alabama High School Athletic Association and must also forfeit any victory an ineligible player participated in according to a release by the AHSAA.

The high school sports governing body indicated an ineligible player played during the season opening game against Gardendale in violation of the AHSAA Academic Rule. The AHSAA also stated the incident was self-reported by school officials. The ineligible player was assessed restitution for the contest he participated in while ineligible meaning he must be part of compensation for any financial loss due to the violation.

The Class 7A Jets defeated Class 6A Gardendale 35-21 in their season-opening game and are now forced to officially forfeit the game. The second game of the 2025 campaign saw the Jets lose to crosstown rival Bob Jones 54-7 before defeating Huntsville 31-14 in game three on the schedule. James Clemens is now 1-1 in Region 4 play and officially 1-2 overall.
