Sparkman, JC score wins, Bob Jones’ perfect record ends against Florence

HARVEST – Junior Braylon Lawson rushed for 356 yards on just 18 carries with two touchdowns as Sparkman continues to follow a familiar pattern during the 2025 football season, mirroring the path they took a year ago.

The Senators defeated visiting Huntsville 36-28 Friday night for their second straight win following three losses to open the season and moved into a four-way tie for second place in Class 7A, Region 4. Last season, Sparkman played the exact same schedule with the same results.

Sparkman (2-3, 2-1), Bob Jones (41, 2-1), Florence (2-3, 2-1), James Clemens (2-2, 2-1) and are all tied behind Austin (4-1, 3-0). Huntsville (3-2, 1-2) is in third place ahead of Grissom (1-3, 0-3) and Albertville (0-5, 0-3) in Region 4.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association ordered the Senators forfeit a 35-21 non-region win over Gardendale for using an ineligible player. The violation was self-reported and included a fine and probation.

Junior quarterback Matthew Evers completed 14-of-19 passes for 203 yards and two TDs for the Jets (2-2, 2-1 in 7A, Region 4). Junior MJ Gideon rushed for 73 yards on nine carries with one TD, and junior C. Richey rushed for two TDs.
