Strike a pose! Residents can gain exposure, win prizes in ‘Madison in Focus Photo Contest’

MADISON – Maybe you found the perfect timing to capture a colorful sunset. Or the impish smile of your toddler at play. Or you caught the family dog in the middle of his best trick. Were you successful in a detailed close-up of a cardinal-red zinnia that you grew?

These images are only a few options that a person can photograph for a new city-sanctioned competition.

Madison Chamber of Commerce and the City of Madison are collaborating to launch the debut of “Madison in Focus Photo Contest.” The brand-new city competition involves placing photographs on Instagram “to celebrate the people, places and moments that make Madison shine,” Chamber President Michelle Epling said.

All photos — from both amateur and professional photographers — will be featured on the city and chamber’s social-media pages (for example, in Instagram stories for both sites). The public will vote to decide quarterly winners among the submitted photographs.

“Quarterly winners will move on as finalists for a grand prize that will be announced at the chamber’s 2026 Holiday Membership Party. We can’t wait to see Madison through YOUR lens,” Epling said.

Quarter 1 submissions are open now. To submit a photo, visit Facebook/ Madison Chamber of Commerce, and click the link in the contest’s post. On the new page, post your photograph and complete the contact information.

Contestants must take photographs within the city limits of Madison.

The top 20 photos will be featured on the chamber and city’s Instagram pages. Quarter 1 dates extend from Nov. 10 to Jan. 19, 2026.

Contestants should confirm that any photograph is appropriate for viewing by all ages and does not display any personal or private information.
