Madison Mompreneur releases Holiday Shopping Guide

MADISON – Madison Mompreneur has released its Holiday Shopping Guide featuring over 100 mom-owned businesses in the Huntsville-Madison area.

“We highlight all of our members [in the Holiday Shopping Guide] and we try to organize it in a way [where we’re] thinking about the shoppers and what kind of gift giving they were doing,” said Co-Founder Juliana Piper. “It’s just a way for us to connect the community with our mompreneurs and make sure [community members] are aware of the local businesses and when they are doing their holiday shopping, so that they can really browse and support local businesses instead of going to the big stores.”

Piper said that through supporting and purchasing from mom-owned businesses, locals can support families, their community and the local economy.

“Moms are now having to handle their business, all their kids’ activities and all the holiday planning; they just have a lot on their plate at this time,” she said. “[When] the community comes and supports their business, it keeps the money here in our city. And it really helps their business soar, helps them grow and helps them share their gifts with our local community.”

Not only does shopping locally help the business owner, Piper said customers will get more intentional products and services from small business owners in their community.

“We’re just trying to make sure people shop local and support the moms that are part of our community,” she said. “If your neighbor has a business, they can probably provide you with the same service or the same product that you’re purchasing from a big box store. And they will usually have better customer service, and they can give you a little bit more of a personable experience.”

Often, Piper said, many residents might not know that the moms they are around are also business owners. She said she hopes the Holiday Shopping Guide will bring locals into mom-owned businesses to purchase the quality items and services they offer.

“We want to invite people to at least be aware of the local businesses that are here,” she said. “When we started Madison Mompreneur, we did not know that a lot of our friends, who we related to through parenthood, actually made some of our favorite candles, were part of the farmers market or could do custom T-shirts or things that we usually buy anyway. We were just not aware, and we would have loved to support their businesses. I just like to invite people to browse around our shopping guide and get to know who the local small business owners are who are probably offering the same product or service that you’re just going to Google to find from some faraway place.”

Outside of the Holiday Shopping Guide, Piper said the mission of Madison Mompreuer is to connect moms who are business owners through their shared experiences as entrepreneurs.

Through community and initiatives like the Holiday Shopping Guide, Piper said she has seen Madison Mompreneur help many mom business owners in the community throughout their entrepreneurial journey.

“Entrepreneurship is often a lonely journey, and we also noticed a lot of other moms that we would see quite often had their own businesses, but most of the time, we would just relate to them as parents about our kids, but never about our business,” she said. “There have been a lot of opportunities shared [through Madison Mompreneur]. We always try to support each other and provide ideas for things that have worked for us, our connections and it’s just a great space where we’re always sharing and trying to be supportive. I’ve seen multiple connections where people were able to grow their business from connections they’ve had through Madison Mompreneur.”
