Driving Nights return to Galaxy of Lights at Huntsville Botanical Garden

Garden’s largest fundraiser celebrates 30-year milestone with time-honored tradition

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Botanical Garden’s annual holiday light experience, Galaxy of Lights, will switch to Driving Nights on December 7-16. Recognized as Huntsville’s most beloved holiday tradition, Galaxy of Lights is presented by Damson Automotive, Publix, and Country Financial.

Galaxy of Lights opened its landmark 30th season on November 14 with a stretch of Walking Nights. On December 7, the Garden will open the driving path for those who want a taste of nostalgia and the rich traditions that Galaxy of Lights is known for. With traditional light displays and special effects throughout the experience, there will be surprises for first-time guests and long-time visitors alike.

“Driving Nights at Galaxy of Lights are never exactly the same from year to year yet the route is designed to capture that sense of nostalgia and tradition that Galaxy is known for,” said HBG Chief Executive Officer Susan Wagner. “It’s a perfect opportunity for those who can’t do the Walking Night experience to still gather together and enjoy the light displays from the comfort and warmth of their vehicles.”

Tickets for Driving Nights range from $30 to $45 per vehicle with 10 or fewer occupants. Driving Nights tickets can be purchased in advance or upon arrival. Discounted tickets of $3 per passenger are available to those who qualify through Museums for All.

“For thirty years, Galaxy of Lights has been a beloved tradition that brings our community together to celebrate the magic of the season,” said Wagner. “This milestone year is especially meaningful as we honor the memories and moments that have made Galaxy of Lights so special, while introducing new experiences that will delight guests in fresh ways. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or continuing a cherished tradition, we invite you to join us in celebrating three decades of lights, laughter, and connection at the Garden.”

Walking Nights will resume December 17-27, and Galaxy of Lights will close with a last opportunity for Driving Nights December 28-31. The event will be closed on Christmas Day. With both walking and driving experiences available, the award-winning event offers guests of all ages the chance to make memories together while supporting the Garden’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Tickets for both Driving Nights and Walking Nights are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the Garden Admissions desk during regular business hours or online at hsvbg.org/galaxy. Bulk tickets are also available for groups of 20 or more and can be purchased by emailing tickets@hsvbg.org. Parking for Galaxy of Lights is free.

An extensive FAQ section is available at hsvbg.org/galaxy for answers to most Galaxy of Lights questions.

All proceeds directly support the mission of the Huntsville Botanical Garden, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Refunds are not available for Galaxy of Lights tickets and rescheduled tickets incur a $5 fee.
