Indoor amusement park coming to Madison
The Madison City Council on Monday approved the construction of an indoor entertainment venue.
Slick City Action Park is proposed to be 42,000 square feet of indoor entertainment space on 3.8 acres located at the corner of Plaza Boulevard and Coefer Boulevard near Primrose School of Madison and Beer Hog.
“It would reflect an increase in tourism in Madison, create about 80 jobs,” City of Madison Director of Development Services Mary Beth Broeren said. “They’re expecting about $1 million in annual payroll.”
The park will be primarily youth-oriented while also offering corporate events. It is part of a franchise that features slides, zip lines, laser tag, arcades, and jungle gyms.
“They chose Madison because it’s a family oriented community,” commented Broeren.
The city’s agreement with the operator, Velocity Venture Madison, LLC, includes a Development Incentive Payment where the city will pay no more than $1 million over ten years to Velocity Venture Madison, LLC. The city will rebate 2% of sales tax to the operator over the first five years and 1% over the next five.
The park is expected to be ready next spring.
