Liberty collects top awards at technology conference

MADISON – Competitors at the state conference of the Technology Student Association or TSA will remember the many successes that Liberty Middle School students achieved.

Liberty students represented Madison City Schools with pride and confidence in conference activities. The Lions returned to Madison with numerous top finishes, along with strong placements across engineering, cybersecurity, medical technology and more.

A national organization, TSA engages students in STEM with competitive events focused on engineering, technology, leadership and problem-solving. Liberty’s staff was proud of these talented students for their hard work, creativity and innovation.

Darrell Brown and Madison Peterson serve as advisors for Liberty TSA.

Liberty showed comprehensive knowledge of subject matter in numerous categories:

• Promotional Marketing – Meena Swarna, first place.

• Children’s Stories – Meena Swarna, first place.

• CAD Foundations – Rayn Chen, first place.

• Creed – Meena Swarna, third place.

• Prepared Speech – Tanvi Gaikwad, first place.

• Promotional Marketing – Jordanne Hagler, third place.

• Catapult Design Team – Lily Mc-Gregor, Henry Newland and Sughan Manoharan, third place.

• Challenging Tech Issue Team – Lily McGregor and Leo Lobes, third place.

• Forensic Technology Team – Trey Johnikin and Crystal McClenton, first place.

• Medical Technology Team – Razeen Bhuyan, Aaron Chen and Nathan Jang, second place.

• Tech Bowl Team – Aaron Chen, Nathan Jang and Aayush Acahrya, third place.

• Forensic Technology Team – Trey Johnikin and Crystal McClenton, first place.

• Drone Challenge UAV Team – Malak Ammar, Rayn Chen, Leo Lobes, Gracie Bachman and Brayden Bachman, third place.

• Inventions & Innovations Team – Rayn Chen, Aayush Acharya, Aaron Chen and Anish Vadrevu, third place.

• Off the Grid Team – Razeen Bhuyan, Aaron Chen and Nathan Jang, third place.

• Notable Top Ten – Coding, Saisha Iyer; Prepared Speech, Joanna He; Career Prep, Sughan Manoharan; Cybersecurity, Ellen DeSpain; Safety Illustration, Aaron Chen and Meena Swarna; and Medical Technology, Malak Ammar, Gracie Bachman and Tanvi Gaikwad.
