Summer camps at Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater give myriad of options

HUNTSVILLE – To thwart the summertime blues, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy invites youngsters to join them ‘on the boulevard’ for their 2026 Summer Camp season.

From Broadway favorites to storybook classics, Fantasy Playhouse has a camp for every student. Youth who are three to 18 years old are eligible. Camps start June 1.

During Full Day Camps, actors will work on different elements of theatre, including acting, voice, dance, improvisation, creative play and storytelling. (fantasyplayhouse. org/summercamp) Fee for these camps is $315.

Each week has a theme, which will guide the week’s activities:

• “Descendants LIVE” — June 1-5. Campers will rehearse for this Disney production. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos are the troublemaking kids of Disney’s infamous villains. They venture from the Isle of the Lost into a glittering kingdom.

• “Myths, Magic and Legends” — June 8-12. Inspired by stories like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and other tales, students act out original scenes where legendary worlds collide.

• “Broadway on the Boulevard” — June 15-19. Campers explore songs and scenes inspired by legendary Broadway hits while building vocal technique, choreography skills and stage confidence.

Half Day Camps will run from June 22 to 26 with morning sessions from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions from noon to 3 p.m. Actors will work on elements of theatre, including acting, voice, dance, improvisation, creative play and storytelling.

Each half-day session is themed, which will inspire class activities. Twelve themes are open to five-year-olds, which include “Disney Pop Princess Party,” through 16-year-olds in “Stage Combat: Death by Shakespeare.”

Improv Camp will run from June 29 to July 1. Students will explore examples of improvisation, including sketch comedy and physical humor while learning fundamentals of comedic acting.

Divided into young actors and advanced students, Theater Showcases run two weeks from July 6 to 17. Children who are five to eight years old will present “101 Dalmatians KIDS.” The advanced class targets nine- to 18-year-olds to perform “Newsies JR.” Fee is $550.

The Youth and Teen Acting Showcase from July 20 to 24 is divided by age groups: seven to 12 years old and 13 to 18 years old. Younger actors will rehearse “Gran’s Guide to Dealing With Ogres”; fee is $350. The older class will work with “The Great Gatsby”; fee is $365.

In Technical Theater Cohort, youth will meet for two weeks from July 6 to 17 to learn about set construction and the design of lighting and sound, along costume creation and wardrobe support for “Newsies JR.” Fee is $560.

Before and after care will be available for an additional fee.
