During the next two years, the sounds of saws and hammers will fill the air at the western edge of Kyser Boulevard in Madison, as construction of a 232-unit luxury apartment community is now under way.
The Grand Reserve at Madison will be built in two phases during the next two years. It will feature 232 two-story apartments ranging in size from 1,200 to 1,450 square feet.
The Madison Community Development Department issued more than 21 building permits for the complex last week totaling more than $4.3 million.
Steven W. Corbett, whose company is located near Phenix City, is building the apartment community. The second phase of identical apartment community, The Grand Reserve at Columbus, is now under construction in Columbus, Ga.
According to Allen Murphree, superintendent at the construction site, The Grand Reserve at Madison will feature one and two bedroom apartments as well as two bedroom apartments with a study. The first phase will be completed in less than a year with the entire complex completed in 2004.
"The complex will feature a clubhouse that will have a weight room, spa and pool, and will feature a lake for the residents to enjoy," Murphree said. " The Grand Reserve at Madison is considered an 'A-grade' apartment community which means they are larger than your average-sized apartments and feature numerous amenities like walk-in closets, a central mail site, heavy landscaping, individual washer and dryer hookups with a laundry facility on site, and a lot more."
Murphree noted that fire sprinklers would be installed in each apartment.
The Grand Reserve at Madison is the second apartment community to be located on Kyser Boulevard and will be one of the largest apartment communities in the city of Madison.
