Museum Academy to offer variety of all classes for all ages
The Huntsville Museum of Art's Museum Academy is offering several winter art classes for children and adults beginning this month.
Beginning Jan. 14, children will be able to learn the fundamentals of art in preschool basic art skills. This will be for ages 3 to 5 years old. Other classes include: museum art safari for Preschoolers, Just Like Me: picture a story, drawing fundamentals, multi-media. This is for grades K-5. Ceramic parent/child classes, as well as art for home-schooled students, will be offered.
Beginning Jan. 14, adults can enjoy oil painting. Other adult classes will include: hand-painted furniture: more techniques, acrylic painting, pottery: hand building and wheel throwing techniques, and watercolor painting.
Several workshops will be held this fall, including multi-media drawing and hand-painted glassware.
Classes will begin soon. Registration is under way by calling 535-4350, ext. 222. Classes will be held at the Huntsville Museum of Art in the Museum Academy Chrysler Corporation or Colonial Bank classrooms.
Registration fees range from $25 to $85. Museum members will receive a discount.
Museum of Art to offer free art activity for children
The Huntsville Museum of Art will offer a free video presentation and art activity during the winter break from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the museum's Great Hall.
Everyone is invited to watch the animated video, The Snowman, based on the popular children's book by Raymond Briggs. Following the presentation, each participant will be able to create his or her own hand-made snowman sculpture using a variety of art papers, glue and markers.
Space is limited. Call 535-4350, ext. 200, to make a reservation. The event is recommended for children ages 5 and older. An adult must accompany children under the age of 12.
