Local historian in search of time capsule

A Madison historian is in search of a local time capsule that's supposed to be opened in 2019.
On the front page of the Oct. 22, 1969, edition of the Madison County Record, an article stated that a time capsule, containing numerous items typifying the way-of-life in 1969 in Madison, was to be put in place at 4:15 p.m. that day.
Madison historian and resident Percy Keel said he would like to know where the time capsule is located – not so that it can be opened now, but to make sure it's kept in place for the next 16 years and can be opened as anticipated more than 30 years ago.
"From reading the article in the paper, all of the items placed in the time capsule was done at City Hall on Main Street, which is now Main Street Caf," Keel said. "Many merchants, schools, clubs and individuals in Madison and Huntsville contributed items for the time capsule. However, I'm not sure where it is located here in town."
Keel said the time capsule was to be opened 50 years from the time it was buried. The ceremony surrounding the burying of the time capsule was part of Madison's 100-year celebration, which ended on Oct. 22, 1969.
"I know there are people who live here in Madison who may remember where the time capsule was buried and I'd like to find out that location," Keel said. "Anyone who has information about it can call me at 772-9716."
