Rainbow is tops

The second annual Madison City Schools "Sixth Grade Sports Spectacular" trophy belongs to Rainbow Elementary this year. Some 600 students from Heritage, Horizon, Madison, Rainbow and West Madison Elementary schools participated in the track and field event held recently at Bob Jones High School. In addition to winning overall, Rainbow Elementary won both the boys and girls 440 relay race.
In some of the other events, Carter Wieland of West Madison won the boys 1-mile run with a time of 6:14. Trevor Werline of West Madison came in second at 6:25. Kelly Wilson of Rainbow was first in the girl's one-mile run at 6:14. Emily Warden of Rainbow was second with a time of 6:27.
In the 100-yard dash, Brandon Lawrence of Rainbow was the boys' winner at 13.37 and Chris Pamfilis of Heritage was second at 13.80. Nikeyah Thompson of Madison claimed the top girls spot with a time of 14.55 and Tonyell Jordan of Rainbow was second at 15.20.
Barbara Tribble is the physical education teacher at Rainbow.
