Town meeting on state tax set for July 21 A town meeting to discuss Gov. Bob Riley's proposed state tax hike will be held Monday, July 21 at 6 p.m. at the Richard Showers Center on Blue Springs Road. You are invited to attend the meeting to learn more about the tax hike proposal scheduled for public vote on Sept. 9
Funding comes to airport U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer and U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby announce funding for Huntsville International Airport projects. Cramer said the airport authority will receive $3.75 million for rehabilitation of airfield pavements and air-carrier apron joints. The regional carrier jet bridge will be expanded and improvements will be made to the terminal access road passenger loading and unloading area. Shelby said the Madison County Commission will receive $1.3 million to assist with environmental mitigation, improve airport drainage, construct an new taxiway and install perimeter fencing.
Training class set at UAH The state Department of Industrial Relations will conduct employer training seminars in Huntsville on Aug. 19 at the UAH University Center, Exhibit Hall B and C. The seminar can be attended either from 8 a.m.-noon or 1-5 p.m. and cost $15 per person. You may register at www.dir.state.al.us/dirpub.htm. Microwave Dave to play at Concerts in the Park *Concerts in the Park, held at Big Spring Park in Huntsville, will feature the blues band Microwave Dave &The Nukes on Monday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free to the public. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

By law, companies have until Oct. 1 to remove phone numbers listed on the do not call registry from their telemarketing call lists.
