Dog park groundbreaking postponed due to weather
A groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new Madison Dog Park scheduled for Tuesday, July 13 has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The ceremony will be rescheduled, but no time or date has been set.
The park, located next to the Mill Creek Greenway, will be enclosed by a 4-foot tall chain link fence and will feature a 30,927 square-foot play area for dogs weighing 25 pounds or less, a 31,363 square-foot play area for dogs weighing more than 25 pounds and a 20×30-foot staging area for the dogs as they enter the park.
The first phase will also feature drinking fountains for both humans and dogs, waste bag dispensers and trash bins.
The second phase will include parking access from the new Balch Road extension, a pavilion, benches, water feature for dogs to play in, a dog-washing station, an obstacle course and an area designed for toy or tiny breeds.
