Ivey joins Chamber staff

Tabitha Ivey has joined the Madison Chamber of Commerce staff as the new membership specialist.

Ivey, a Cullman native who resides in Huntsville, began her position in August and she works side-by-side with chamber Investor Relations Manager Lou Galipeau by helping retain members.

“It’s Lou’s job to get new members, and it’s my job to keep them here,” Ivey said. “It’s my responsibility that they are getting their money’s worth.”

As the new membership specialist, Ivey encourages members to take advantage of the mentor and member-to-member programs, which she said helps educate and benefit each member within the chamber.

As another way of growing the chamber, Ivey and the other members of the chamber staff will host a 7-for-700 membership drive, which aims at increasing the total number of chamber members to more than 700 in seven weeks.

From Oct. 1-Nov. 19, each chamber staff member will captain a team of chamber volunteers to encourage businesses to join the organization.

By joining the chamber, Ivey said, a business can begin to grow and find new ways to market itself to the community.

“That’s what we’re here for,” Ivey said.

And growing local businesses is exactly what Ivey intends to do.

“I have the best job in the world,” Ivey said. “I feel like this position was meant for me and I was meant for this position.”
