Thomas Robin Griffin Sr.; Nov. 23, 2010

Thomas Robin Griffin, Sr. of Madison and founder of Griffin Appraisals died Tuesday, Nov 23, 2010 at the age of 83.

Tom was born in 1928 in Danville, Ky., the only son of Maydelle Van Cleve and B. J. Griffin who with two sisters: Maydelle Trambarulo and Gertrude Furlong preceded him in death.

He was educated at the University of Kentucky receiving a degree in agriculture science and did graduate work at Georgetown University and the University of Indiana.

Tom was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

He proudly served his country as an Officer in the Unites States Army Reserve and the Alabama National Guard for 28 years and 10 months. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jody Sims Griffin; sons, Kenneth Griffin of Evansville, Ind., Bill Griffin of Colorado Springs, Co., and Thomas (Rob) Griffin, Jr. of Madison; grandsons, Ken, Jr.; Conor, Ernie, Sam, Thomas III, Seth, Ben and John; granddaughter, Ramsey Glenn Griffin; sisters, Martha Haunz and Alvina Fetick of Kentucky; Tom was father-in-law to Rosemary, Lauri and Julie; and also survived by his 102 year old Aunt Martha Griffin McIntyre; godchildren, David Gregory, Cheryl Gregory Ross and Alice Wright; sister-in-law, Edythe Sims Gregory; brother-in-laws, Bill Sims, Ralph Trambarulo, Pat Furlong and Carl Haunz; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mass of the resurrection was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Phil O’Kennedy officiating.

Burial was in Belleview Cemetery in Danville, Ky., in the Griffin Family plot. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Tom to the Building Fund of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, Madison, Alabama 35758.
