Faye Moore; Dec. 3, 2010

Faye Mitchell Moore, 72, of Madison died peacefully Friday, Dec. 3 from pancreatic cancer that conquered her body, but not her spirit.

Born and raised in the Monrovia area, Faye spread warmth and joy wherever she went and to whomever she met. Faye was always dedicated to the large extended family and multitude of friends whom she loved very dearly and who dearly loved her back.

After marrying John in 1999, Faye spent the rest of her life cherishing and caring for her grandchildren. A bright and joyful light has been extinguished from this world, but her memories will remain with us forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Essie Mitchell.

Survivors include her husband, John Moore; daughter, Stacy Tidwell; son-in-law, Brad Tidwell; son, Chris Moore; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Moore; three very loving grandchildren, Alyssa Harris, Natalie Tidwell and Canon Tidwell; two very loving sisters, Betty Garris and husband Jimmy and Ann Quick; a loving brother, Bill Mitchell and wife June; one niece, Regina Richards; three nephews, Patrick Mitchell, Russell Mitchell, and Brad Quick; several great-nieces and great-nephews; three uncles, Wesley Mitchell and wife Mary Ruth, David Mitchell and wife Dorothy and Randolph Mitchell and wife, Nell; three aunts, Hazel May, Nella Mitchell and Merle Hoover; and many loving cousins.

Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. in Laughlin Service Chapel with the Rev. Joe Teal, Dr. Edwin Jenkins and Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Quick, Patrick Mitchell, Russell Mitchell, Adam Richards, Stephen Richards, and William Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ladies’ Fidelis Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Athens.
