James Harmon; Dec. 13, 2010

James “Jim” P. Harmon of Madison passed away Monday, Dec. 13. He was 73.

Master Sgt. Harmon was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was dear to family and friends for his exceptional kindness and generosity. He was a graduate of Athens State University and received an MBA from the University of Alabama, Huntsville. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Mr. Harmon became well-known for the many years he served as manager of Larry’s Pistol and Pawn. He also served as a trustee for Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ann Harmon of Alabama; children, Michael James Harmon of Florida, Richard Perry Harmon of Florida, Patrick Thomas Harmon of Alabama, Thomas Wayne Harmon of Alabama and Stephanie “Tippi” Wacenske of Alabama; grandchildren, Andrew Perry Harmon of Florida, James Edward Wacenske of Alabama, Sarah Cate Harmon of Alabama, John Karl Wacenske of Alabama, Lillie Grace Harmon of Alabama, Thomas Alexander Harmon and Samuel Augustas Harmon of Alabama; and brothers and sister, Kenneth Harmon of Virginia, Edith Peck of Virginia and Darryl Harmon of Virginia.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Berryhill Funeral Home. Chapel services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17. The Rev. Bill Murph and the Rev. Joe Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
