Madison Band Supply comes to town

Madison Band Supply, located at 1604 Hughes Road, Suit B opened its doors Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Despite the snow and icy roads, Madison Band Supply opened its doors for the first time, Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Madison Band Supply is Madison’s only full service music store, according to its owners.

Store owners, Frank Sr. and Robin Cotton, opened the store to meet the demands of the Madison community.

“There are a lot of musicians here, so we’re filling a void,” Robin said.

The store carries instruments, musical accessories, books and gifts. It also features studio space for lessons and WI-FI for customers looking for somewhere to hang out.

They will rent instruments.

“If we don’t have it, we’ll get it,” Frank said.

The Cottons moved to Madison eight years ago because Frank was relocated as a retail manager for Freeman Jewelers.

They decided to open a music store in order to make musical equipment more coveniant in the Madison community.

Robin plays the alto clarinet in the community band and always had to drive to purchase equipment.

“We thought it was time to start doing our own thing,” she said. “We wanted to make a name for ourselves instead of for other people.”

The Cottons’ two children, Frank junior, 15, and Anna, 11, are also musicians. Frank junior plays the bass guitar and Anna is in the Discovery Band Program.

The business will be a family affair with Frank senior serving as the business manager and Frank junior working part-time.

On Feb. 12 Madison Band Supply will host a grand opening.

The event will feature local ensembles, give-a-ways, food and drinks.

The store is located at 1604 Hughes Road Suite B and is now open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Robin Cotton stands with her husband, Frank, and two children inside the store.
