Knox out as interim Chamber director

Madison City Council representative and Madison Chamber of Commerce liaison Tim Holcombe announced Monday night that Tim Knox, the chamber interim director, is “no longer in that position or employed with the chamber.”

Holcombe said the decision was mutual between the board and Knox.

“He was hoping for a longer term or to maybe be the permanent director, but (the board) wasn’t ready to go in that direction,” Holcombe said.

Knox was named the interim director in December 2010 after then-director Kate Gray resigned from the position.

Knox stepped down from his position as the board president to assume the role as interim director.

“I needed to focus on my business interests and to make way for the board to find a permanent replacement,” Knox said in an e-mail.

A search committee has been assembled and is currently creating a job description and qualifications for the position.

Once the description is created, the job will be posted, applications accepted, narrowed down and interviews performed by the board.

Holcombe praised the chamber staff of Lou Galipeau, Felecia McInnish and Tabitha Ivey for their work during the transition, and said they will continue in their current roles.

No timeline has been set to begin accepting applications.
