Ethel Rottstedt; July 20, 2011

Ethel Rottstedt, 93, of Madison passed away Wednesday, July 20.

Ethel was born to Ethel and William Bowler in Bradford, Pa.

She graduated from St. Bernards High School and Jamestown Business College.

She married Lt. Vernon R. Rottstedt at Ft. Devons, Mass. on May 29, 1941.

During WWII, she worked for the Pennsylvania Unemployment Commission and Goodbody Brokerage Firm. During her husband’s 28 years in the U. S. Army she moved many times and actively supported her husband’s career. She was a Red Cross volunteer, a Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher. In 1968 the Rottstedts retired to Las Cruces, NM. Mrs. Rottstedt was a member of St. Albert the Great Church in Las Cruces. She was also a member of the Officers Wives Club of Las Cruces and the Regular Officers Wives Club of El Paso. After 35 wonderful years and many friendships, Ethel and Vern moved to Huntsville to be near their daughter.

Survivors include daughter, Marsha Harris and husband, Donald; granddaughter Diane Seajack and husband, Damian; great-granddaughter, Madison Seajack.

Mrs. Rottstedt will be buried with her husband and infant son at the Ft. Bliss, Texas National Cemetery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
