Madison man charged with murder after vehicle accident

A Madison man has been arrested and charged with murder and assault.

Erik Lane Christensen, 42, was arrested for the Jan. 3 accident that resulted in the death of John Patrick Shaw.

Christensen was driving an ADT Company Van on Highway 20 approaching Slaughter Road. He passed traffic in the right lane that had been stopped by a red light at the intersection of Highway 20 and Slaughter Road. Police said Christensen’s vehicle lost control and left the roadway to the north side of Highway 20.

The Van went airborne onto Slaughter Road and struck Shaw’s Nissan pickup.

Shaw was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he died from his injuries.  The passenger that was with Shaw was injured but did not have life threatening injuries.
