Madison Academy named Apple Distinguished school

Madison Academy has been named an Apple Distinguished School for its implementation of 21st century learning methodologies using Apple technology.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for schools that are recognized centers of educational excellence and leadership.

“This recognition from Apple is a great honor.  It is a tribute to our teachers who are learning to challenge their students in new ways,” said Dr. Robert Burton, president of Madison Academy.  “Our technology team has done a remarkable job of training and supporting teachers because they don’t have to stay consumed with making the technology work.  The reliability and stability of the Apple platform allows us to allocate our resources to classroom support.”

The selection of Madison Academy as an Apple Distinguished School highlights its successes in enhancing and extending teaching and learning with thoughtful and innovative implementations of technology. Madison Academy’s one-to-one program provides 9th-12th graders with 24/7 access to their MacBooks.  Other classes benefit from rolling MacBook labs and iPod centers.  The scope and sequence for technology has been adapted to provide students the skills they will need when they enter middle school.  “Technology is not the end.  It is a means to an end,” according to upper school principal Dr. Michael Weimer.  “It is a tool to equip students with the skills requisite to be successful in the digital 21st century world.”

Madison Academy is a co-educational pre K-12 Christian-based private school located in Huntsville, Alabama.  Our primary mission is to provide a quality education in a Christian environment that will help students grow in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.
