Area doctor relocating to Illinois

A long-time North Alabama ob-gyn is moving to Illinois.

Dr. Jay Keller, of OB-GYN Associates of Decatur and Madison will see his last patient in the area April 19.

Keller will be joining a team of doctors at the Vita Center for Women, LLC at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Ill.

“I really cannot not talk about leaving without getting choked up,” Keller said. “I am definitely going to miss his patients and the friends and acquaintances I’ve made.”

Keller has been provided obstetric and gynecological care in Decatur since 1992.

“Twenty years of obstetrics and gynecology has introduced me to many wonderful people and provided countless precious memories,” he said. “I will always carry a part of this practice in my heart, and I hope I have left a positive impression on my patients, their families, and this community.”

Colleague Dr. David Spangler said in a statement that the team is saddened that Keller will be leaving the area.

“We wish his family well as they relocate to Illinois,” he said.

Originally from Kansas City, Mo., Keller said be an obstetrician mostly because he loves delivering babies.

“That experience of being a part of the birth of a baby is like no other,” he said.

The Madison office is located at 460 Lanier Road, Suite 206. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. Visit the website at OBGYNalabama.com for more information.
