Virginia Boozer Lyons; March 26, 2012

Virginia Boozer Lyons, 78, of Madison passed away Monday, March 26.
Mrs. Lyons taught at Jacksonville State University and earned her Master’s Degree from there as well. She retired from teaching in the Cherokee County School System after 25 years of service. Mrs. Lyons was a charter member of Perryhill United Methodist Church in Montgomery, and was a member of Madison United Methodist Church. She worked with the Double Nickel Club and the United Methodist Women’s Club. Mrs. Lyons was a devoted mother, teacher and Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include son, Owen Denson Bolan, Jr. and wife, Beth, of Dothan; daughter, Lily Arnold Green and husband, Steve, of Madison; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Roberta Boozer Bennett of Heflin; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Madison United Methodist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Brother Larry Wright officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29 in the Columbiana City Cemetery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Women’s Club or the Building Fund of Madison United Methodist Church or the Building Fund of Crosspointe Church of Madison.
