Liberty Launch Gala next Thursday

On April 12, Huntsville’s Liberty Learning Foundation (LLF) will present the “Liberty Launch Gala,” a night of entertainment and inspiration celebrating the individuals and businesses who are helping the nonprofit place locally produced “Super Citizen” Program kits in schools across the country.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the passionate support we are getting for this nationwide movement,” says LLF founder Patti Yancey. “And we think it’s only fitting that the city that took us to the moon is also the launch pad for this new mission to ensure our next generation is educated, and prepared, to take ownership of their American Dream.”

Placing the program in every school in America is obviously an ambitious mission. So, last year Liberty

Learning Foundation kicked off its mission with an awe-inspiring bus tour that generated a lot of attention while bringing high-energy theatrical performances to school stages across the country.

“The Next Great Americans Tour performances are just one of the ways we are inspiring children to be excited about learning. We deliver the “Super Citizen” Program Resource Kit as a template for in-depth character education, financial literacy, career development and civic responsibility. Then, students team up for hands-on civic projects that show them the power they have to impact America’s future,” says Yancey.

“The time is now,” she says.” “We have momentum. And we have teachers literally begging for the free tools. But we still need donors and volunteers to make sure we can fill the need. And Huntsville’s history proves that no challenge is too big for the spirit & will of the people who took us to the moon.”

The celebration gala will take place Thursday April 12, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Early Works Grand Hall in downtown Huntsville. The night features performances and presentations by country star Michael Peterson, Lady Liberty Live, NBA legend M.L. Carr and more. Tickets to the event are complimentary with $100 donation to the Liberty Learning Foundation.
