Potter running for District 4 seat

BY LORETTA GILLESPIE / SPECIAL TO THE RECORD

Mike Potter has entered the race for the District 4 seat on the Madison City Council.

    Potter

Potter, who has been studying the infrastructure of the city’s government since 2003 has been involved in many civic organizations, and neighborhood committees, such as the Taylor’s Crossing Homeowner’s Association, adding to this experience he served for four years on the Madison Planning Commission, and currently serves as its chairman.

He currently serves on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, which reports to the Metropolitan Planning Organization. “I am a strong advocate for the City of Madison,” said Potter. “Over the years I have made contacts in all the various facets of city government, and I know the obstacles we face and how to best over come them.”

Having lived here for the past eight years, he has the City of Madison’s best interests at heart, and has strong family values and community ties. He and Patricia, his wife of 40 years, have two married daughters and two grandchildren.

The Potter’s attend St. John’s Catholic Church and actively support its growth.

Throughout his two professional careers, first as member of the US Army for 20 years (now a retired Lieutenant Colonel) and as an Engineering Fellow with the Raytheon Company (retired in 2008) he has maintained a strong moral and work ethic that he brings to the table with him. With a BS in applied Mathematics and an MS in electrical engineering, I understand both the financial sector and the technical sector of our area government and businesses.”

“I think my record shows that I have demonstrated the needed ethics and ability to work with others to get things done. My capabilities are well known to current and past mayors, council representatives, and city department heads, and I am ready to hit the ground running,” he promised.

“I intend to work diligently to ensure that the dialogue between the City of Madison and both the Madison County and Limestone County governments is active and balanced,” said Potter.
