Willie Metta Strong Brannan; May 18, 2012

Willie Metta Strong Brannan, 88, passed away at home to be with the Lord on Friday.

Willie Metta was very active in her church, the Madison Church of Christ, and was a successful farmer and business woman. She was involved in both local and statewide community affairs, having been appointed by four different governors to serve on the Alabama Women’s Commission. Willie Metta was preceded in death by her grandson Spencer Clyde Whitworth. She is gone, but will never be forgotten by those who loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Dr. E. R. Brannan; children, John Marlon Whitworth of Pine Mountain, Ga; Marolyn Whitworth Ingram and husband, Ron, of Montgomery; Clyde Nunley Whitworth and wife, Jane, of Hoschton, Ga.; Dr. David Whitworth and wife, Dr. Jan Whitworth, of Madison; 10 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and a host of dear friends.

Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 21 at the Madison Church of Christ with the service following at 11. A private burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
