Local merchants, professionals set for Madison Business Expo

Business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders will explain their products and services at the 20th annual Madison Business Expo & Kids Day on July 28.

Presented by Madison Chamber of Commerce, expo hours will be 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hogan Family YMCA. More than 60 chamber member businesses will showcase their work. The expo is free and offers fun for the entire family.

“Visitors can expect an expanded event encompassing more of the Hogan YMCA property with hands-on demonstrations by Home Depot, title sponsor,” chamber spokesperson Felecia McInnish said.

Adults can speak to business owners one-on-one and collect collateral handouts and quotes. The booths will showcase banking, sitters, physical therapy, restaurants, flooring, salons, embroidery, schools, dentists, tutoring, real estate, insurance, chiropractors and installers of windows, HVAC, roofing and siding.

“Many will give samples, including Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Costco hotdogs,” McInnish said. Weber will grill Schwan foods for tasting.

“Children will enjoy take-home projects by Sci-Quest Hands-On Science Center, water inflatables from Space Walk of Northwest Alabama, tool boxes from Home Depot, fun hair coloring, face painting, jugglers and a balloon artist,” McInnish said. Alexander Martial Arts, Zumba, yoga and soccer groups will entertain.

A few prize giveaways will be a four-piece patio set ($3,200), Home Depot; gas grill ($400), Weber; and two power tool kits ($179).

Mayor Paul Finley will man his “Ask the Mayor” booth. Lambert Record Center will shred up to 100 pounds of printed materials free with drive-through available. LifeSouth will conduct a blood drive.

Visitors can tour a HEMSI ambulance, Madison Police Department patrol car and Corvette, Madison Fire and Rescue Department fire truck, Madison SWAT unit and Madison Hospital mobile medical unit.

Platinum sponsors are Madison Hospital, Focus Radio WTKI/WEKI and Space Walk of Northwest Alabama. Gold sponsors are Iberia Bank, BancorpSouth Bank, Tea with Thee by Victoria, Alabama Credit Union, Redstone Federal Credit Union and Good Samaritan Hospice of Madison.

“A limited number of booths are still available at $315,” McInnish said. An exhibitor must be a Madison Chamber of Commerce member. For more information, call 256-325-8317.
