MADISON — While most four-year-old’s are just grasping their phonics, Brielle Hicks has already made steps towards helping sick patients across the world.

Hicks followed her older sister Madeline’s footsteps by donating to the charity and their father, Dustin, said that he could not be more proud of this daughter.

“It definitely makes you proud,” he said. “It’s simple thing to do and we’ve been blessed with pretty goods heads of hair.”

Hicks, who owns and operates Spectactical Laser Tag in Madison, said Brielle got the idea from his wife and told her that she “wanted to give my hair to a little girl who doesn’t have hair.”

For her donation, Brielle had to cut off 11 inches of her hair.
“Brielle was all smiles at the salon both before and after her haircut,” Elizabeth Hicks said. “However, on the ride home she began to say she missed her hair and cried a bit.  She was soon cheered up when we reminded her of what a nice thing she had done and how beautiful she looked with her new haircut.”

Hicks said she is sure that Birelle has inspired others in their family and said  both of them hope that her inspirational act encourages other to donate to the organization.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Locks of Love  meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the high quality hair prosthetics.
