MADISON – With a little help from her hometown, Maddie Hutt can be the next titleholder for America’s Homecoming Queen.

Founded in 1981, America’s Homecoming Queen is a non-profit corporation based in Tennessee. By invitation only, homecoming queens for high school football or basketball can compete in state preliminary rounds to the national title.

Hutt was elected 2012 homecoming queen at Bob Jones High School and now is a finalist for Alabama’s Homecoming Queen. “Maddie is representing not only Bob Jones but also Madison. She has the chance to receive a scholarship plus an all-expense paid trip to the national finals,” Bob Jones instructional coach Amy Thaxton said.

Each vote costs $1, and proceeds benefit the organization’s scholarship fund. Individuals can vote multiple times. To vote for Hutt, click “Donate” at the following website:

In applying for the title, Hutt documented her GPA, community service ventures, job experience, awards or other titles and post-secondary plans. “I later received notification that I’m a state finalist for the Alabama competition,” she said.

On April 21, Hutt will compete with about 20 other finalists at the University of Alabama in several detailed interviews and an evening gown walk. “Whoever wins that round will go to nationals and compete against a representative from every state,” she said.

“I chose to pursue the title because of the scholarship that was offered and because my success gains respect for my school and community,” Hutt said.

At Bob Jones, Hutt is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team, Student Ambassadors, National Honor Society and the “Chest Painters,” a student group for raises school spirit at athletic events.

She was elected 2013 prom queen and received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award in 2012. Her parents are Tom and Loriann Hutt. Maddie’s brother Tad is an eighth-grader at Liberty Middle School.

This fall, Maddie will enter Auburn University to study for a career in pediatric dentistry.
