MADISON — The Madison Gazebo Concert series in historic downtown Madison will not only bring live entertainment to the community, it will also help benefit the Bob Jones Patriots volleyball team thanks to the efforts of Whistle Stop Sweet Shop.

Lynn Crumbly said she was approached by a parent from the Patriots volleyball team to see if the shop and the team could join forces for a fundraiser.

“I then got together with Beth Ridgeway with the Arts Council and worked out a way for us to extend our hours during the concerts in the park this summer,” Crumbly said.

The players will be selling vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavored artisan gelato and will receive $1 for every gelato sold and 10 percent of all sales. The money will help pay for camps, equipment and various other expenses that each player must pay for individually.

“It’s good for them and will also be something for people to enjoy at the gazebo,” Crumbly said.

The shop itself will remain open until 8 p.m. every Thursday during the Madison Gazebo concert series with all items, including Crumbly’s famous fudge, available for purchase.

This is not the first time that Crumbly and business partner Crystal McBrayer have helped out in Madison area fundraisers. The pair have helped out in band fundraisers for Bob Jones, James Clemens and also various church fundraisers for mission trips.

Crumbly said she hopes to help out more in a community that grows each and every day.

“I think everyone that participated were pleased,” she said. “We are very open to anyone who wants to help fund-raise with us.”

Whistle Stop Sweet Shop is located at 104 Main Street in downtown Madison. For more information, call 256-325-8838.
