Dublin to register summer campers on April 12

MADISON – Starting in May, youth can attend summer day camp at Dublin Park.

The City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the camp. The camp is open to boys and girls who will enter kindergarten through sixth grade for the 2013-2014 school year.

“This exciting program will provide an opportunity for summer care for the children in our area,” city special event coordinator Gayle Milam said. The camp opens on May 28 and will continue until Aug. 1.

Registration will be held on April 12 at 9 a.m. Parents must pay a registration fee of $100 per child at registration. Limited spaces are available.

Weekly fee will be $110 for one child, $200 for two children and $270 for three children. Daily rates also are available at $22 for one child, $40 for two children and $54 for three children.

Throughout the summer, campers will take field trips to activities such as roller skating, bowling and movies. Field trips will be planned for Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.

“Swimming will be another activity our campers will enjoy,” Milam said. “We are scheduled to attend the Dublin outdoor pool on Thursdays and Fridays.”

Dublin Park encompasses 60 acres. A double-court gymnasium can accommodate basketball or volleyball games, and a walking track is available upstairs around the gym.

The heated, indoor 25-yard pool has eight lanes. The outdoor pool has a diving well and kiddie pool.

The Dublin campus includes a paved walking trail, nine soccer fields, a nine-hole disc golf course, seven tennis courts and Kids Kingdom, an upscale playground.
