Madison County Record wins 14 awards at Alabama Press Association

The Madison County Record picked up more than several awards at the recent Alabama Press Association Convention this past weekend in Destin, Fla.

The paper placed in eight categories in the APA Better Newspaper Contest, for which 70 newspapers submitted 2,606 entries.

The Madison County Record represented in six categories in the APA Advertising Contest. Thirty-seven papers submitted 968 entries for consideration in that competition.

Division D was the classification The Madison County Record competed in.

 

The Record won the following in the Better Newspaper Contest:

 

-Third place, tie with The Record (Dadeville), Best Presswork

 

-Third place, tie with The Greenville Advocate, Best Lifestyle/Family Pages

 

-Third tie with The Record (Dadeville), Best Local Economic Coverage

 

-First, tie with Auburn Villager, Best Education Coverage

 

-First, tie with The Greenville Standard, Best Use of Photographs/Editorial Content

 

-First, tie with The Greenville Advocate, Best Sports Photo: “State Champs” by Michael Wade

 

-Second, tie with The Greenville Advocate, Best Special Section: “Progress 2013”

 

-First, tie with The Brewton Standard, Best Niche Publication: “Madison Living: May 2013”; second, tie with The Wetumpka Herald: “Madison Living: July 2013”

 

The Record won the following in the Advertising Contest:

 

-Second, tie with The Record (Dadeville), Best Classified Page or Section

 

-First, tie with The Record (Dadeville), Best Regularly Scheduled Section: “Progress 2013”

 

-Third, tie with Hartselle Enquirer, Best Signature Page: “Faith”

 

-First, tie with The Atmore Advance, Best Niche Publication: “Madison Living”

 

-Second, tie with Wetumpka Herald, Best Use of Humor: Whistle Stop Sweet Shop ad

 

-First, tie with The Greenville Advocate, Best Presentation of Online Advertising
