MADISON – A civic organization and local hospital have collaborated to establish a fund to help women and children.

The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County and Crestwood Medical Center have announced the charter of this new source, Crestwood Women & Families Fund.

The community foundation will manage the fund, which represents the first ‘giving circle’ that the foundation staff has coordinated.

“The mission of the Crestwood Women & Families Fund is to establish a grant-making fund for high-impact grants to address the issues and meet immediate needs of women and families in our community,” Lori Light said. Light is Crestwood’s Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Physician Relations.

“Not-for-profit organizations in our community who serve women and families will follow a formal process of applying for funds,” Light said.

An advisory committee will meet regularly to review applications and recommend grants to selected organizations. Committee members will include the Crestwood Women’s Advisory Council, Crestwood Medical Center employees and volunteers.

The foundation and hospital invite residents to be founding supporters of the fund with a minimum tax-deductible donation of $100 by July 15.

“After the initial funding campaign has been completed, all founding supporters will be invited to a ceremony to announce the charter of this fund and to dedicate a commemorative display on the Crestwood Medical Center campus,” Light said.

Organizers suggest using a donation to honor or remember a special woman in the community.

For information about the fund, visit communityfoundationhsv.org/CWFF or mail contributions to Community Foundation, P.O. Box 332, Huntsville, AL 35804 by July 15.

Crestwood Medical Center is a community healthcare provider with a 150-bed full-service acute care hospital. The center offers the latest medical advancements and surgical and diagnostic procedures, while providing compassionate care.  For more information, visit crestwoodmedcenter.com.

Since its founding in 2009, Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County has raised or managed more than $13 million for charitable causes. For more information, call Stuart Obermann at 256-535-2065 or email to stuart@communityfoundationhsv.org.
