Campuses to host open houses for 2014-2015 school year

MADISON – Aug. 5 will be students’ opening day for the 2014-2015 school year, and several schools have announced their Open House schedules.

At Heritage Elementary School on July 31, Open House for students with last names A-G will be held from 3:15 to 4 p.m.; names H-O, 4:15 to 5 p.m.; names P-Z, 5:15 to 6 p.m.

New students and families at Heritage can meet Principal Dr. Georgina Nelson and staff, tour the building and visit classrooms on July 31 from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

“Our wonderful Heritage PTA will have grilled hamburgers, chips and drinks in the cafeteria for those wishing to grab a bite before or after Open House from 4:30 until 6 p.m. on July 31,” Nelson said. “We’ll have bouncy houses in the gym.”

Discovery Middle School will orient new families on July 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. Discovery eighth-graders can pick up schedules and pay fees on July 24 and seventh-graders on July 25, both days 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The INOW Parent Portal will open July 21.

Panther Open House will be Aug. 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. After assembling in the gym, families can visit teachers and classrooms.

Madison Elementary School families can ‘meet and greet’ their new principal, Melissa Mims, on July 22 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Open House will follow on July 31 with kindergartners from 3 to 3:45 p.m.; fourth- through sixth-graders, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; and third- through fifth-graders, 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.

Mill Creek Elementary School’s Open House will be July 31 with orientation in students’ homerooms. Orientation will start at 3 p.m. for kindergartners and include 30-minute increments for grade levels through 7 p.m. For specific times, visit mces.madisoncity.k12.al.us.

Bob Jones High School’s Patriot Night for orientation will be July 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., and students can get their schedules with teachers’ names and block. Also, students can visit teachers in their classrooms. Families can pay fees online after July 18 or in person on July 25-28.
