MADISON – Nominations are open for the 2014 Hall of Fame designates at Bob Jones High School.

The Bob Jones Hall of Fame “recognizes outstanding alumni who have maintained a high standard of excellence and made a significant contribution in their fields of endeavor,” assistant principal Amy Thaxton said.

In addition, individuals who did not attend Bob Jones can be nominated as “service candidates” for their positive impact on the school by leadership and volunteering. “These individuals serve as role models for current and future Bob Jones students,” Thaxton said.

To qualify, alumni nominees must have graduated a minimum of 10 years ago and made significant accomplishments as a student in scholarship, service, leadership, athletics and any combination of these contributions.

Service candidates cannot be employees or currently affiliated with Bob Jones. A former employee must have worked for at least 10 years for the school or be retired, deceased or not employed by the school for at least 10 years.

All candidates must have a prestigious record with a post-secondary school, “including degrees attained and fields of study, and/or professional background and work experiences and/or significant community involvement,” Thaxton said. Their resume may contain awards, honors and offices in an organization.

Nomination deadline is Sept. 1. To nominate an individual, email to Thaxton at athaxton@madisoncity.k12.al.us.

The 2014 Hall of Fame inductees will be invited to serve as grand marshals of the homecoming parade and a post-parade reception on Sept. 25. “They will also be honored at half time during the homecoming game on Sept. 26,” Thaxton said.
