MADISON- New Yorkers are accustomed to seeing Jets fans but last week some James Clemens Jets fans arrived in New York. A group of cheerleaders and chaperones toured the Big Apple and got a close up look at television shows including The View, Good Morning America, and The Today Show.

Seniors Sutton Parker, Abbie Johnson, Robyn Kincade, Taylor Yarbrough, and Kaylan Hampton were on fall break and flew to New York along with chaperones Leslie Parker and Tara Yarbrough.

“Our New York trip was a trip of a lifetime,” Sutton Parker said. “We wanted to represent and promote James Clemens while we were there.”

First on their schedule was a visit to the set of Good Morning America where they watched the show and met Tyra Banks. The former Victoria’s Secret Model is the producer and host of America’s Next Top Model and has decades of experience in the glamour industry. Banks was there promoting her own beauty product line TYRA Beauty.

Sutton Parker and Kaylan Hampton were chosen to be participants on Bank’s segment. The girls got some advice and free samples from Banks who has twice graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in her 20 plus year modeling career.

From there the group did some shopping along 5th Avenue in the heart of Manhattan and toured the 911 memorial. They later toured the historic Empire State Building and visited Central Park, Soho, and China Town. They stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square.

The next day they had front row seats at the popular daytime show The View. There they met Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Rosie O’Donnell, and Nichole Wallace.

That night they attended the musical Cinderella at the Broadway Theater.

Their final day in New York started with an early morning visit to The Today Show where they got on TV holding signs that read “Go Jets” and “National Champions” referring to the cheerleaders first place finish in Super Varsity Division at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Championships earlier this year.

We did cheers as we were standing there and got interviewed for the Today Show radio,” said Parker who had visited New York once before with her family.

“This is a trip we will always treasure” said Taylor Yarbrough.

The group arrived back in Huntsville on Thursday and Friday night were back on the sidelines cheering for the Jets in a football game at Gadsden City.
