HUNTSVILLE – A classic in theater history, Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” will dock in Huntsville for five performances, opening Jan. 30 at the Von Braun Center.

Broadway Theatre League and its 2014-2015 season sponsor, Jerry Damson Automotive Group, will present the national Broadway tour of “Anything Goes,” which won the 2011 Tony Award for “Best Revival of a Musical.” Show sponsors are Lanier Ford Shaver & Payne P.C. and Star 99.1.

“Anything Goes” debuted in 1934 with memorable tunes like “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top” and the title song, “Anything Goes.” The show features music and lyrics by Cole Porter with an original book by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, along with a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

Set aboard the S.S. American ocean liner, the story involves madcap antics of passengers bound from New York to London. Stowaway Billy Crocker is in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope.

With this tour, Emma Stratton makes her national debut as Sweeney. Her regional credits include “Into the Woods,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Kiss Me, Kate.” Brian Krinsky, who portrayed Beast in the national tour of “Beauty and the Beast,” stars as Billy.

Show times are Jan. 30 at 8 p.m.; Jan. 31 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Feb. 1 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the VBC’s Mark C. Smith Concert Hall.

Tickets start at $17 for students and $37 adults. To buy tickets, visit the Broadway Theatre League office in the Von Braun Center, 700 Monroe St., Suite 410 or call 256-518-6155. Also, individuals can call 800-745-3000 or visit the VBC box office, Ticketmaster outlets or ticketmaster.com.

Founded in 1959, Broadway Theatre League of Huntsville is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides professional live theater for citizens of the Tennessee Valley area.
