Yuri’s Night at Lincoln Mill to benefit CAJA

HUNTSVILLE – Yuri’s Night has changed venues to accommodate the throng of guests whose attendance will help the Court Appointed Juvenile Advocates (CAJA) program.

Billed as “Huntsville’s biggest and best party,” Yuri’s Night will be held at Lincoln Mill, 1300 Meridian St. in Huntsville on April 11 at 6 p.m. The outdoor event is free.

Yuri’s Night is a worldwide celebration of space achievements and marks the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s first flight into space in 1961 and the U.S. Space Shuttle’s first launch in 1981. Huntsville will celebrate along with more than 1,000 parties around the globe on six continents.

“This event has always been held at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, but we have outgrown the venue,” CAJA board member David McElhaney said. “This year, we’re holding the event at the Lincoln Mill facility. We’ll have lots of room for fun, food trucks and fellowship.”

The festivities at Yuri’s Night will include a costume contest, laser light shows and a deejay for party music. A selection of craft beers will be sold.

CAJA is an all-volunteer, community-based solution to the growing problem of abuse, neglect and abandonment of children in Madison County. The CAJA program in Madison County is affiliated with the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association.

CAJA volunteers work with the Juvenile Court of Madison County to help these children “grow up dreaming big dreams like all other kids,” Laura Kovalcik with CAJA Friends Inc. said. “All children deserve enough security in their lives to feel they can dream big.”

“Global Recruiters of Huntsville is one of the sponsors of the event,” McElhaney said. “We need more sponsors to make this event successful and provide funding for the children of Huntsville and Madison County.” Sponsorship levels are open at $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, $1,00 and $500 levels.
