Crossing the bridge

From The Publisher

My family has never been excited about an interchange opening until now.

The interchange at Interstate-565 and County Line Road has already made commuting much easier.

The residents that live in west Madison can now bypass the traffic on Madison Boulevard.

It has also freed up many of the traffic issues with Sullivan Street/Wall-Triana Highway, which runs parallel to County Line Road and, until recently, was the only Madison exit off of I-565.

As a west Madison resident, this is a wonderful convenience.

We need to recognize our current city, county and state officials for coordinating this needed relief.

We should also show appreciation to our former local and state officials for this project.

The interchange was an undertaking that lasted several years and expanded over a few political careers.

The lifespan of this project reaches as far back as 2002 when former Madison Mayor Jan Wells first sought funds for a proposed interchange.

These roads finally intersected at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 10th.

It was a time of celebration for many of our past and present community leaders.

Our Madison officials do the best they can to meet the needs of our quickly developing community.

As they are always the first to hear about our growing pains, please let us remember to thank them for the hard work, which results in improving our quality of life.

We now have another connection to Interstate-565 that can help our commute, encourage new business and create new jobs.

Now, will someone please open a Chick-fil-A on County Line Road?

I promise you my daughter will be your first customer.
