Bates receives ‘Safe School Leadership Award’

HUNTSVILLE – Lt. Stacy Bates with Huntsville Police Department is the 2015 recipient of the “Safe School Leadership Award” from the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).

Individuals who receive this award have exhibited their willingness to support and further develop the SRO partnership. Recipients also exemplify leadership, innovation, dedication and proactive measures to enhance the school community’s safety.

Bates has served with Huntsville police since 2005 and worked as SRO supervisor from September 2011 until February 2015. Along with his individual award, Bates led the Huntsville Police Department SROs to recently receive NASRO’s 2015 Model Agency Award.

Bates and current SRO supervisor Sgt. Eddie Houk will accept these awards at the NASRO conference in Orlando on July 7.
