HUNTSVILLE – A native of Moreno Valley, Calif., Anthony Goodeill grew up in the military lifestyle. The area of southern California was home to the former March Air Reserve Base, now the March Air Reserve Base.

Goodeill was located in the area due in large part to his father’s service with the United States Air Force, as well as his grandfather’s. So, in high school, he took Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps courses to familiarize himself with the service.

Soon after high school Goodeill left for Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for basic training. After training, Goodeill was assigned to Minot Air Force Base – “One of the coldest places to be stationed,” as he put it – in North Dakota as a food services technician.

While in Minot, Goodeill encountered a medical problem with his feet and, when contemplating his options, opted to take an honorable discharge and get out of the Air Force.

After working for Marriott as a chef, Goodeill moved to Oregon and attended Northwest Christian University in Eugene, graduating with a degree in pastoral ministry in 1998.

He then attended seminary for a year but decided to delve into his passion for information technology.

While working on his master’s degree, Goodeill accepted a job with NASA in Huntsville, moving to the area in 2005.

Recently, in February, Goodeill officially launched his company, Powernet America, Inc., which provides IT contracting and consulting services. Goodeill is currently attempting to service other small-to-medium businesses and can be reached at powernetamerica.com.

Goodeill credited his service with the Air Force for his drive and dedication.

“It gives you a foundation of life, really,” he said. “The skills you learn are invaluable.”

Goodeill lives in Hazel Green with his wife and children.
