HUNTSVILLE – In its 55th year, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater has announced its show lineup for the 2015-2016 season.

The season opener, “The Snow Queen” will be performed on Oct. 9-11 and 16-18. Sam Marsh is directing this production.

In this adventure, the wicked Snow Queen casts an icy spell on the world. Gerda braves many dangers to save Kay, an eternal prisoner in the queen’s Ice Palace.

Gerda meets talking ravens, the ominous Cobweb Spider, a prince, princess and robbers while traveling through the Arctic. Stuart Paterson adapted the original story by Hans Christian Andersen.

“A Christmas Carol” musically retells Charles Dickens’ classic novel. The audience will see Scrooge travel through his past, present and future on Christmas Eve. Show dates are Dec. 4-6 and 10-13

Director for “A Christmas Carol” is Jeff White. Many Tennessee Valley residents consider this production as a family tradition.

“Winnie the Pooh” will be presented on Feb. 19-21 and 26-28, 2016. Jessica Alexander is director.

The show asks for ever-depressed Winnie the Pooh to save the day. Pooh’s friends, including Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Christopher Robin, offer their help. Kristin Sergel adapted the play based on A.A. Milne’s classic book.

On April 22-24 and April 29-May 1, 2016, Lezlie Lanza will direct “The Little Mermaid.” This popular children’s tale follows the title character as she befriends a reluctant prince, King Neptune, the Sea Urchin and Granny.

The Sea Witch desperately tries to steal the mermaid’s most precious possession. Writer William Glennon puts a contemporary spin on this Hans Christian Andersen’s classic story.

Fantasy Playhouse’s address is 3312 Long Ave. in Huntsville. Season tickets are available by calling 256-539-6829 on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for individual shows are $15 and available online, by phone or in person at the office.
