MADISON- Ashley Pursifull has had a busy week, wearing two hats you might say. Now she can add a crown to her collection because Friday night she was named homecoming queen at halftime of the Bob Jones 45-14 win over Huntsville.

She prepared for homecoming activities as one of six senior finalists for homecoming queen and played in Bob Jones volleyball team’s last regular season game also senior night.

Pursifull even had her own fan section and her election was no surprise to Bob Jones students. She is considered one of the most popular and well-liked seniors.

Pursifull is one of two captains, along with Isabelle Barnes, on Bob Jones volleyball team that is back in action Monday night in the Area 8 tournament. But tonight it was all about pomp and tradition.

“There are so many lovely girls I’m sure it was really close because they are so awesome,” Pursifull said. “I am really humbled. Kindness is something people see and I try my best to love everyone. This is such a great school that it’s easy to be nice to everyone.”

She is the daughter of David and Stephanie Pursifull. David is a pastor at The Building Church in Madison.

She counts as her best friends the other members of the volleyball team, all were there to congratulate her.

“I’ve been playing with them since eighth grade and they have become my best friends.”

As for college, she has not made a final decision but she has all the bases covered. She has applied at UAH, Samford, Auburn, UNA, and UAB. She does say that nursing will be her major field of study.

Joining her at midfield to present her with the crown was last year’s winner, Mae Crumbly, now a student at Alabama.
