Chamber presents Small Business Awards

MADISON – The top echelon of performers in retail, service and community life grabbed the spotlight at Madison Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Small Business Awards.

The dinner and ceremony on Nov. 10 was held at Insanity Complex.

Emcees were Dan & Josie from 102.1-WDRM. Todd J. Slyman, founder of Village of Providence and Village at Oakland Springs, was featured speaker. DJ Ozone provided entertainment.

Progress Bank won the 2015 Small Business of the Year honors. The Startup Business of the Year winner was Madison Behavior Therapy.

Karen Mockensturm with Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy earned the Excellence in Leadership & Service nod. Executive Director Daniel Kasambira with Hogan Family YMCA was named Community Servant of the Year

Good Samaritan Hospice won in the category for Health & Wellness Business of the Year. The award for Non-Profit of the Year went to Still Serving Veterans.

Cork & Crust Pizzeria + Wine Bar took the award for Food Service of the Year. Abby Glenn – A Quiet Cove Apartments & Corporate Suites received the kudos for Home & Living of the Year. Vicki Morris is 2015 Ambassador of the Year.

Finalists for the 2015 awards included Rocket City HR, Small Business; Insanity Complex, Startup Business; Amanda Weaver, ServisFirst Bank, Excellence In Leadership & Service; Ginger Harper, IBERIABANK, Community Servant; II XCL Strength & Conditioning, Health & Wellness; Rotary Club of Madison, Non-Profit; Rocket Republic Brewing Company, Food Service; and Lee Company, Home & Living.

Presenting Sponsor was Landers McLarty, while Progress Bank served as Cocktail Hour Sponsor. Madison Publications was Gold Sponsor.

Platinum sponsors were iHeartMedia, WDRM, Republic Services, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Family Security Credit Union, WEKI and WTKI.
