Girl Scouts ramp cookie sales this weekend

Girls Scouts are staffing booths to sell cookies during Girl Scout Cookie Weekend in Madison on Feb. 26-28. CONTRIBUTED

MADISON – Girls of all ages across Madison are supporting their troops with sales of Girl Scout cookies.

Mayor Troy Trulock proclaimed Feb. 26-28 as Girl Scout Cookie Weekend in Madison. This announcement coincides with National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. Trulock met with Scouts at Asbury United Methodist Church to issue the proclamation.

On Feb. 26, Girl Scouts will have a booth for cookie sales at Cuts by Us at 8580 Madison Blvd. from 4 to 6 p.m.

On Feb. 27, a cookie booth will be open at Walgreen’s at 12010 County Line Road from 10 a.m. to noon, Staci Krupp said. Krupp serves as Girl Scout Service Unit Manager.

Other sites will be open on Feb. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. These locations are Sally’s Beauty Supply, 8141 U.S. 72 W.; Dollar Tree, 8213 U.S. 72 W., Suite D; Cuts by Us, 8580 Madison Blvd.; and Walgreens, 12010 County Line Road.

From 2 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 27, Scouts will sell cookies at Walgreens at 7813 U.S. 72 W.

Then on Feb. 28, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet at 9076 Madison Blvd. will have a cookie booth open from noon to 2 p.m. From 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 28, Dollar Tree at 8213 U.S. 72 W. and Cuts by Us at 8580 Madison Blvd. will have booths.

“Other times at these same locations are being currently added,” Krupp said.

“Girl Scouts appreciate the support we get from businesses in the community that allow us to have booth sale sites,” Krupp said. She acknowledged Texaco, 7964 Madison Blvd.; Sonic Drive-In, 11396 County Line Road; Chevron, 10344 County Line Road; Walgreens; Dollar Tree; Sally’s Beauty Supply; Ollie’s Bargain Outlet; and Cuts by Us.

More than 9,000 girls and 3,000 adults in 35 counties participate in Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama. Juliette Gordon ‘Daisy’ Low founded Girls Scouts in Savannah, Ga. in 1912 with her belief of the power of every girl.
